What our guides are based on

Last updated 13 October 2026

A useful buying guide should make its evidence and its limits easy to see.

Research, not invented testing

The guides currently published on BuyerDecision are research-based. We consult manufacturer product pages, technical specifications and support documents, and link to sources so you can check the information yourself. We have not conducted hands-on tests for these guides.

Battery life, water resistance, suction figures and similar specifications are manufacturer claims unless a guide explicitly identifies another source. Real-world performance depends on conditions. A listed feature does not by itself establish better sound, cleaning or image quality.

How we compare products

We start with the purchase decision: the intended use, compatibility, maintenance, running costs and limitations. We explain who a model may suit and when a different type of product makes more sense. We do not assign star ratings or imply that a small selection is an exhaustive market test.

We do not automatically recommend replacing a working product. An accessory, a settings change or a different setup can sometimes solve the problem with less waste and expense.

Dates, models and prices

An updated date refers to an editorial revision, not the day you visit. Older model comparisons remain useful when clearly identified. Exact prices and availability vary by seller, country and time, so check the model number, included accessories and purchase terms on the linked page.

AI assistance and illustrations

We use AI tools to assist with research organisation, drafting and site production. That assistance is not a substitute for source evidence. Product specifications are accompanied by their sources, and uncertainties should remain explicit.

The current guide cover images are AI-generated illustrations of product categories. They are not photographs of exact named models, test samples, or equipment owned by our publisher.

Commercial links

Read our link disclosure for the current position on affiliate links. Any future commission-bearing links should be identified clearly. A commercial relationship is not evidence of product quality.
