Product recall check: official recall databases by country

Check if a product, appliance, toy or car has been recalled. Direct links to the official EU, US, German, Japanese and UK recall databases.

A guide to official recall sources. We do not publish or interpret recall notices ourselves. How we research · How links work

The short answer

Search the official recall database for your country with the brand and the exact model number from the product label. In the EU use Safety Gate, in the US use CPSC (products) or NHTSA (cars), in Germany the KBA for vehicles, and in Japan the Consumer Affairs Agency recall site.

Before you search

Find the model number, batch or serial number and purchase date. They are on the rating label, the box or the receipt. Recalls often apply only to certain batches.

Common questions

How do I check if a product has been recalled?

Search the official database for your country with the brand and exact model number from the label. For cars, use the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA site in the US or contact the manufacturer; in Germany the KBA database lists vehicle recalls.

What should I do if my product is recalled?

Stop using it if the notice says so, and follow the remedy in the official notice. That is usually a free repair, replacement or refund from the manufacturer or seller.

Why does BuyerDecision only link to official sources?

Recall notices change and can be withdrawn. The official databases are the authoritative record, so we send you straight to them rather than copy their data.
