Air fryer and microwave on the same circuit: amps for 14 air fryers

Can an air fryer and a microwave share one 15 or 20 amp circuit? Maker-stated watts and amps for 14 air fryers from Cosori, Ninja, Hamilton Beach, and what microwave makers say.

Every figure copied by hand from each maker's own page on 22 October 2026, one link per row. Amps are watts divided by 120 volts. We have not measured any appliance. How we research | How links work

The short answer

Not at the same time on a 15 amp circuit, and usually not on 20 amps either. 11 of the 14 air fryers here are rated 1,690 to 1,800 W, 14.1 to 15 amps at 120 V on their own. A microwave sold as 1,000 W can draw much more from the wall: Toshiba states 1,550 W input for its 1,000 W EM131A5C, 12.9 amps. Even the smallest air fryer here, the 900 W Cosori Lite, plus that microwave comes to 20.4 amps. Panasonic and GE both say a microwave should be on a circuit of its own.

Check your air fryer and microwave

Pick your air fryer and type your microwave's input power. It is on the label inside the door or on the back, often as "input" or in amps; the cooking wattage on the box is lower. If you only know amps, multiply by 120.

Result

Pick an air fryer.

Default microwave figure: Toshiba EM131A5C, 1550 W input (Toshiba).

What microwave makers say about sharing a circuit

GE AppliancesCountertop and over-the-range microwaves (support answer)"The Microwaves require a 120 volt, individual, properly grounded branch circuit ... protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker"GE Appliances

Panasonic names a list of its own models, including the NN-SN65KB and NN-SN67KS, that need at least a 20 amp outlet (Panasonic). The arithmetic agrees with the makers: a 900 W Cosori Lite plus a microwave drawing 1550 W is 2450 W, 20.4 amps, over a 20 amp breaker. Plug the air fryer into an outlet on a different circuit. If you cannot tell which outlets share a breaker, switch the breaker off and see what goes dead.

Next step

Before buying, check the watts on the listing against your kitchen: an air fryer of 1,700 W or more needs a counter outlet on a different circuit from the microwave. If every counter outlet shares one breaker, the 900 W Cosori Lite is the lowest draw here.

Common questions

Can I run an air fryer and a microwave on the same circuit?

Not at the same time on a 15 amp circuit. 11 of the 14 air fryers here are rated 1,690 W or more, which is 14.1 amps or more at 120 V before the microwave starts. Toshiba states its 1,000 W EM131A5C microwave draws 1550 W from the wall, 12.9 amps, so together they pass even a 20 amp breaker. Panasonic and GE both say a microwave should have a circuit of its own.

How many amps does an air fryer use?

7.5 to 15 amps at 120 V across the 14 models here: 900 W for the Cosori Lite 2.1-quart up to 1800 W for the Cosori 13-quart oven and the Ninja Crispi Pro.

Why is my microwave rated 1,000 watts but draws more?

The big number on the box is cooking power, what reaches the food. The plate inside the door or the spec sheet gives input power, what it takes from the outlet. Toshiba's EM131A5C page lists both: Wattage 1000 Watts and Rated Input Power 1550W. Use the input figure for circuit math.

Can I run them one after the other?

Yes. The limit is what runs at the same moment. Ninja's Crispi Microwave and Air Fryer (MW101) is one appliance that does either job, so it never adds a second load: Ninja rates it 1700 W and 15 amps.

Method

  1. Air fryers. Air fryers on the US sites of Cosori, Ninja, Hamilton Beach whose product page states a wattage we could read, one page at a time, on 22 October 2026. Pages without a stated wattage are listed under the table, not guessed.
  2. Microwaves. Microwave makers rarely print input power on their product pages. We show the one countertop model whose page gives both figures (Toshiba EM131A5C), Ninja's combined unit, and the circuit rules Panasonic and GE publish for their microwaves.
  3. Arithmetic. Amps = watts / 120 V, summed for the two appliances and compared with the breaker rating. Real draw varies with the heating element cycling on and off; the rating is the most the maker says it will draw.
  4. Not covered. Wiring, outlet condition, or anything else on the same circuit, such as a coffee maker or toaster. Ask an electrician before changing a circuit.
