The short answer

Both machines brew the same Original capsules at the same 19-bar pressure, and both heat up in about 25 seconds. Buy the Pixie if counter space is tight: it is about 11 cm wide. Buy the CitiZ if you want a 1 L water tank instead of 0.7 L, so you refill less often. Macy's listed the Pixie at $239 and the CitiZ at $279.95 on 15 Oct 2026.

When the Pixie wins

Small kitchens, offices and a lower price. It is the narrowest machine in Nespresso’s Original range, and on the Macy’s prices it costs about $41 less.

When the CitiZ wins

Several coffees a day. A 1 L tank holds about 40% more water, so you refill less often. Some people also prefer its retro look.

FAQ

Does the Pixie or CitiZ make better coffee?

Nespresso gives both the same 19-bar pump, the same 25-second heat-up and the same two cup sizes, espresso and lungo. The capsule decides the taste far more than the choice between these two machines.

How much bigger is the CitiZ?

Nespresso lists the Pixie at 11.1 x 32.6 x 23.5 cm and the CitiZ at 13.0 x 38.9 x 27.7 cm. The CitiZ is about 2 cm wider, 6 cm deeper and 4 cm taller.

Can either make milk drinks?

Not on their own. Nespresso sells an Aeroccino milk frother as an add-on for both. Some CitiZ bundles include one, so check what the listing includes.
