The short answer
Choose the Roborock Q7 M5+ if you want LiDAR mapping and a pad mop for the lowest price: $299.99 on Roborock's US store on 16 Oct 2026. Choose the Roomba j7+ if your sofa gap is under about 10 cm, because iRobot lists it at 86.4 mm tall against 99 mm for the Q7 M5+, or if you want camera-based obstacle recognition. When the Q7 M5+ wins
Price and mopping. At $299.99 it is one of the cheapest self-emptying robots with LiDAR from a major brand. Our true cost tool puts its parts at about $106 a year on daily use, so you can see the running cost before you buy.
When the Roomba j7+ wins
Low furniture and floors with cables. The extra 12.6 mm of clearance decides whether a robot fits under some sofas and beds. If chargers and cables often lie on your floor, iRobot built the j7 range around recognising them with a camera.

FAQ
Which one fits under lower furniture?
The Roomba j7+. iRobot lists its height as 3.4 in (86.4 mm). The Roborock Q7 M5+ is 99 mm in our height database. Measure your gap and leave about 5 mm spare.
Does the Roomba j7+ mop?
No. The j7+ only vacuums. The Combo j7+ is a different model with a mop. The Q7 M5+ has a pad mop with three water flow levels.
How do they avoid obstacles?
iRobot uses a front camera it calls PrecisionVision to recognise objects such as cords. Roborock's Q7 M5+ maps rooms with 360-degree LiDAR. They are different approaches, and we have not tested either one on a cluttered floor.
