Power station specs, checked: car charging and boost figures for 46 models
Two facts from 46 maker spec pages: a 12 V car socket gives 96 to 132 W, so a full charge takes hours, and boost figures are not surge ratings. Raw data and maker links.
Every number below is computed from our power station dataset, copied from maker pages on 2026-10-26. We have not tested any of these stations. How we research | How links work
The short answer
From a 12 V car socket, the 23 of 46 power stations whose maker gives a socket rate take 96 to 132 W, so a full charge takes 4.2 to 42.7 hours at best, and 16 of them need 10 hours or more. Separately, 20 of 46 maker pages print a boost-type figure such as X-Boost, Power Boost, Lifting Power or SurgePad. That is a separate spec from the surge rating, not another name for it.

Finding 1: a car socket gives 96 to 132 W
23 of 46 maker pages give a 12 V car socket rate. 5 print it in watts. The other 18 print amps, so the watts are 12 V times those amps. Best-case hours are capacity divided by those watts, with no charging losses. The maker's own time, where printed, is in its own column.

Alternator charger claims, shown separately
Some car figures are for an alternator charger that the maker sells separately and that is wired to the vehicle battery. They are not socket rates, so they are not in the table above.
| Power station | Capacity (Wh) | Car claim as printed | Our note | Maker page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 | 1,024 | Car Charging 800W, in 1.3 Hour | The 800 W car figure is for the EcoFlow 800W Alternator Charger, sold separately; the 12 V socket rate is not printed. | EcoFlow |
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus | 1,024 | Car Charging 800W, in 1.3 Hour | The 800 W car figure is for the Alternator Charger, sold separately; the 12 V socket rate is not printed. | EcoFlow |
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic | 1,024 | Charge to 80% in 1.8 hours or 100% in 2.5 hours using the EcoFlow 500W Alternator Charger | Surge is in the page body, not the spec table. Car time is for the alternator charger, sold separately. | EcoFlow |
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max | 2,048 | Fully charged with 500W Alternator Charger in approx. 5-6 hours | Surge and 1800 W AC input are in the page body, not the spec table. | EcoFlow |

Finding 2: boost figures are not surge ratings
20 of 46 maker pages print a boost-type figure. The names used are X-Boost, Power Boost, Turbo Boost, Lifting Power, Power Lifting, SurgePad, V-Beyond and Boost Mode. Surge is the short peak a station can deliver, for example when a motor starts. 16 of these 20 pages also print a surge or peak figure, and on 13 of them the two numbers differ. On the 3 pages for the Anker SOLIX C300, EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus and VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000 they are the same number, printed as two separate specs. 4 pages print a boost figure and no surge figure.
Where a page explains the mode, the wording is in the table: BLUETTI and VTOMAN say it is for resistive loads, and OUPES calls it a 5-minute mode.

Next step
Before you rely on car charging, check the fuse rating of your car's socket in the vehicle manual and the station's car input on its spec sheet. Before you plug in a heater or kettle, compare its watts with the station's rated AC output, and read the maker's own description of any boost mode.
Common questions
How long does a power station take to charge from a car socket?
At best, capacity divided by the socket rate. The 23 models here with a 12 V socket rate take 96 to 132 W, so a full charge takes 4.2 hours (Goal Zero Yeti 500, 499.2 Wh) to 42.7 hours (EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3, 4,096 Wh) before any losses.
Is an X-Boost or Power Boost figure the same as surge?
No. They are separate specs. 16 of the 20 pages with a boost-type claim also print a surge or peak figure, and on 13 of them the two numbers differ.
Method
- Data. All 46 rows of our power station dataset, copied by hand from each maker's US product page on 2026-10-26. This page reads that file when the site is built, so its numbers match the download.
- Car socket rate. The maker's watts at 12 V, or 12 V times the maker's amps (marked "derived"). Best-case hours = capacity (Wh) / watts. Example: 4,096 Wh / 96 W = 42.7 hours for the EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3. Real charging takes longer because of conversion losses and the slower last few percent.
- Alternator claims. Rows where the page or our note ties the car figure to an alternator charger sold separately.
- Boost. Any figure the maker labels as a boost, lifting or SurgePad mode, copied word for word. We compare its largest watt figure with the surge figure only where the page prints both.
- Not covered. Whether a given vehicle socket stays live with the engine off, 24 V inputs, and how any station behaves in use. We did not charge or load any station.
