Face width, height and depth of 11 current video doorbells from the maker spec pages, narrowest first, with a check against your door trim.

Dimensions read by hand from each maker's product or spec page on 17 October 2026. We have not installed these doorbells ourselves. How we research | How links work

The short answer

Measure the flat part of your door trim and pick a doorbell narrower than it. The narrowest here are the Wyze Video Doorbell v2 and Google Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen) at 1.7 inches (43 mm) wide; 5 of the 11 models are under 2 inches, all wired except Google's battery Nest Doorbell at 1.8 inches. Ring's battery doorbells are 2.11 inches wide. If your trim is narrower than every model, mount it on the wall beside the door or on an angled or extension mount.

Which doorbells fit your trim?

Checking the table

Doorbells no wider than your trim stay visible below.

Every model, narrowest first

Makers list the three sizes in different orders, so we show the maker's own text and read the face width as the middle number, the height as the largest and the depth as the smallest. The widest here is the TP-Link Tapo D230S1 at 2.15 inches; the narrowest wired one is the Wyze Video Doorbell v2.

Sizes for the Ring Wired Doorbell 2K Plus are without its wall mount. The Ring Battery Doorbell 4K Pro is listed with its wall mount; Ring gives 1.51 inches of depth without it. Google lists the wired Nest Doorbell as 1.7 inches long and 1.1 inches wide; we read the 1.7 inch side as the face because the 1.1 inch side is the shortest.

Common questions

How do I measure my door frame for a doorbell?

Measure the flat face of the trim where the doorbell would sit, from one edge to the other, not the whole frame. Rounded or stepped trim only counts where it is flat enough for the mount.

Which is the narrowest video doorbell here?

The Wyze Video Doorbell v2 and Google Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen), with a face 1.7 inches (43 mm) wide by the maker's figures. The narrowest battery model is the Google Nest Doorbell (battery) at 1.8 inches.

Are battery doorbells wider than wired ones?

In this list, mostly. The Ring battery models are 2.11 inches wide, while the slimmest wired models are under 2 inches. Google's battery Nest Doorbell is the exception at 1.8 inches.

Why does the depth matter?

Depth is how far the doorbell sticks out from the trim. It matters if a storm door or screen door closes in front of it.

Method

  1. Models. Current video doorbells whose maker page loads as plain text: Ring, Google Nest, Wyze and TP-Link Tapo. Brands whose pages need a browser to show the specs are not in the table yet.
  2. Sizes. The dimensions on each maker page, read by hand on 17 October 2026 and copied as printed. Where a maker gives inches and millimetres that disagree, we use the millimetres and say so.
  3. Face width. The middle of the three numbers. Height is the largest, depth the smallest.
  4. Fit check. The calculator keeps models whose face is no wider than your flat trim. The mounting plate and screws need room too, so check the install guide if the margin is small.
  5. Not covered. Wiring, chime compatibility and subscription plans. We did not install any doorbell.
