FAQ
Are both waterproof?
Both carry IP67 ratings from their makers. That means dust-tight and able to survive immersion to 1 metre for 30 minutes in testing. It does not mean they are made for swimming. See our guide to IP67 vs IPX7.
Can I plug in a cable for audio?
Not on the Sony. Its USB-C port charges only, and there is no wired audio input. The JBL spec sheet we used lists Bluetooth playback; check the current sheet before you rely on a wired input.
Which lasts longer per charge?
On the makers' figures, the Sony: about 16 hours against 7 hours (9 with Playtime Boost) for the JBL. Battery life at high volume will be lower for both.
